Implementing a RFC 3428 SIP IM client on Android - A quick-starter's guide |
HowTo and Quick-Starter Guide - 30.10.2009
How to program the Android Operating System? Is it possible to get a SIP Stack up and running? Chatting possible? This is an english guide in few steps.
The Android operating system is available for quite some devices - and it's an interesting environment to program with. How to implement applications on this device? Beside the pure curiosity there was another interesting question around: Is it possible to implement a SIP stack on Android? Well, two interesting and challenging requirements ... This should be a solvable challenge.
RFC 3428 describes an extension to the SIP signalling protocol to allow instant messages over SIP. This RFC is the baseline for this implementation.
The document is available in english only!
